Pittsburgh’s Best Sushi Spots Revealed
One of the best perks of the Cork Factory’s Strip District apartments is the close proximity to delicious local restaurants. In summer’s warmer months, nothing hits the spot quite like a fresh sushi dinner. It’s light, healthy, and feels like a mini seaside vacation. We’re fortunate to have some truly spectacular sushi spots right here in the neighborhood, and we’re letting you in on a few of our favorites today.
Centrally located on Penn Ave in the Strip District, Maiku serves up fresh sushi and traditional Vietnamese pho. Maiku is an awesome place to stop in for lunch or dinner as you’re exploring the neighborhood, with their on-the-go service and cost-effective pricing. Choose from a wide selection of spring roll appetizers, spicy noodle soup starters, and all the classic sushi rolls for your entrée. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can also go for their traditional banh mi sandwiches, pho, or bubble tea. Check out Maiku’s website for location and hours to plan your visit.
Ginza truly has it all. Their extensive menu features authentic Japanese favorites and their low-key atmosphere makes for a perfect lunch spot or date night. Choose from over 30 different types of rolls, or even spring for the Love Boat, which comes with the chef’s selection of sushi and sashimi for two. Ginza is BYOB, so bring your favorite beer or wine to accompany your meal, and simply enjoy. For their full menu including teriyaki entrees, hibachi dinners, and dessert, check out their website.
Andy’s Sushi Bar
Andy’s is located within Wholey’s Fish Market, and while you’re perusing around for groceries and ingredients, it’s well worth a trip to the sushi bar. Andy is known locally for his colorful character and friendly personality. As he prepares your made-to-go order, he regularly chats with customers and makes everyone feel involved in the experience. Meals are expertly rolled and generous in portion size, and you can take your food to go or head upstairs to take in the atmosphere of Wholey’s, a quintessentially Pittsburgh experience.
