Proper Brick Oven and Tap
Nestled in the Cultural District, Proper Brick Oven and Tap is an original concept created by Suzanne Hrach. Before she opened the eatery in 2013, she traveled the world in search of inspiration. In 2017, Proper was named one of the "Ten Best Pizza Restaurants in Pennsylvania,' and it's where guests can enjoy a leisurely meal. The menu includes specialty pizzas such as Forest, Greco, and Mediterranean, as well as thirty beers on tap that constantly change.
Anthony's Coal Fired Pizza
Anthony Bruno grew up on Long Island, and his passion for food began at a young age. Eventually, he moved to south Florida, and it wasn't long before he realized that he couldn't find a good pizzeria. That's how Anthony's Coal Fired Pizza was born, and it began from humble beginnings. Today, there are more than sixty locations in eight states, and Anthony boasts that they have a cult-like following. Specialty pizzas include Meatball & Ricotta, Paulie's Pie, and Margherita.
It was in 1967 when Giuseppe Aiello sailed to America with just sixteen dollars in his pocket. Nine years later, he opened Aiello's Pizza on Murray Avenue. Each day, hours before the restaurant opened, Giuseppe could be found in the kitchen preparing the dough which he topped with homemade sauce and other fresh ingredients. Today, his son operates the business, and pizzas include Hawaiian, pierogi, and T-Rex.
