Join Neighbors & Community Members in the Third Annual Pittsburgh Recovery Walk

Mark your calendars and come out to join your community for the third annual 2018 Pittsburgh Recovery Walk. Honoring National Recovery Month, this year’s walk will take place on Saturday, September 15th from 8AM-1PM in an honorable effort to celebrate the road to recovery and lift up those whose lives have been touched by addiction. The annual walk aims to raise awareness and reduce the stigma surrounding addiction and recovery by promoting conversation and raising funds that go directly to research, training, and education in addiction.

While addiction and recovery are issues that affect so many of our neighbors, community members, and fellow Americans, we still struggle to openly discuss the epidemic, leading to shame and stigma that makes it that much harder for people who are struggling to reach out for help. The annual Recovery Walk serves as a way to begin to dismantle this obstacle and promote conversation within our community.

This worthy cause is entirely free and open to all. The walk will begin at 11th and Waterfront, just north of Smallman Street, and will continue down Penn to Market Square, ending at a Recovery Expo featuring speakers, entertainment, and activities. Enjoy a live performance by Jim Donavan & the Sun King Warriors, remarks by Jennifer Smith, Secretary of Pennsylvania’s Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs, and personal stories of recovery from western Pennsylvanians. Booths, gifts, and activities will also be featured at the Expo.

Advanced registration, while not required, is encouraged in order to help event organizers prepare for the walk and anticipate the number of participants planning to join. To register, click here.
